Mastering Perspective & Urban Structure (Prague Study)

Join us for a focused two-day studio course dedicated to understanding perspective drawing and building complex urban scenes from scratch. Working with reference from Prague, we will explore how to construct believable city views through structure, proportion, and clear perspective planning.

This course is designed to strengthen your drawing foundations. We will break down complex street scenes into simple spatial systems, learning how to set horizon lines, locate vanishing points, and build architecture accurately within perspective. You’ll gain a clearer understanding of how to plan a drawing before committing to detail, and how to confidently construct urban environments step by step.

The first session is fully dedicated to drawing and construction. By the end of the day, you will have created a complete perspective drawing of a Prague street, where all structural lines align and the cityscape begins to make sense in three-dimensional space.

The second session focuses on light and value. We will take the drawing further by exploring how to fill structure with tone, shadow, and depth, transforming line work into a more atmospheric, dimensional study. You’ll refine your composition, add remaining details, and learn how light defines form in architectural scenes. The result will be a monochromatic study capturing both structure and atmosphere.

It is possible to attend either session individually or both as a complete course. Get in touch to book only one day.

What's the agenda?

During the workshops, I share the most important techniques that we need to focus on the subject. I make a demonstration of the painting process in a few steps (typically 2-3). During this demonstration, you are welcome to ask questions, and I will explain the key details. After each step, you will have time to work on your own piece. I will circulate among the group, providing individual assistance and answering any questions.
